Nine on the Nines: Walter Sickert, K.Flay, Dr. Dog, Matt Pond added to August music & arts festival

A few weeks ago we announced the inaugural lineup for THE NINES, a new music and arts fest going down August 10 on the 20-acre athletic grounds of Willard Field in Devens, Massachusetts. Since then, the Nines has added four additional musical performers to the day’s festivities — nine bands at the Nines, makes sense — including Boston performance-art steamcrunk misfits Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys. (Local side note: Sickert and crew are at Brighton Music Hall Saturday with World/Inferno Friendship Society, for those looking for a preview.)

Also on tap: bi-costal hip-hip rising star K.Flay, who will tour with Icona Pop later this year; Philadelphia neo-psych rock band Dr. Dog; and veteran singer-songwriter Matt Pond, who apparently has dropped the long-standing PA from his moniker.

They’ll be joined under the warm August sun by Explosions in the Sky, Kid Koala, Shuggie Otis, Walk Off The Earth, and Delta Spirit in a pretty sweet and diverse lineup. Check out some video clips of the newbies below, and go to the Nines homepage for a rundown on the arts and comedy aspects of the all-day fest.
