Listen to the catchy new Franz Ferdinand song, ‘Love Illumination’ /// fall tour dates announced

Back in May, we received word that Glasgow art rockers FRANZ FERDINAND had announced the details of their fourth studio album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, dropping August 27 on Domino Records. The band has been touring extensively testing the new songs on audiences around the globe, and when I caught ze Franz in the basement of the Vacation boutique in San Francisco’s notorious Tenderloin, they played a song called “The Blackpool Illuminati.”

That song has been slightly reworked and debuted on BBC Radio 1 as “Love Illumination,” and now it’s ready for mass consumption as the first single from Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action. (Pre-order the new record here).

“Love Illumination” hits all of the points that made us fall in love with Franz Ferdinand years ago -– a danceable beat, catchy hooks and an anthemic refrain.

An unexpected addition comes in the form of horns adding to the many layers that make “Love Illumination” a solid guitar pop single. By the end of its three-and-a-half-minute run, you’ll likely be singing along to “Love Illumination’s” earworm chorus.

Even better news: it’s also a good indicator of the rest of the tracks on Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action. Franz Ferdinand isn’t straying from the tried and true path of music suited to indie discos and we’re just fine with that. Don your skinny tie and dance along.

Bonus, here’s another cut from Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, titled “Right Action,” with some North Americantour dates after the jump. Alex and the boys are at the Orpheum in Boston on October 20. Mark your calendars.
