Boston Fuzzstival adds second stage, featuring Ghost Modern, Boogie Boy Metal Mouth, more

The Fuzzstival, it grows.

Earlier this month we spotlighted the eight bands playing the first-annual Boston Fuzzstival August 10 at the Middle East Downstairs. Today, the noisy rock and roll fest has expanded above ground, taking over the Middle East’s corner bar for a free #Caturday showcase between 2 and 5pm, bringing its total number of participating bands to 13. This shit is legit.

Joining in on the daytime fuzz-sesh are Ghost Modern, a sharp new project featuring members of Squall and Autochrome, as well as the mega-hyped genre-mashing Boogie Boy Metal Mouth, which everyone from the New Highway Hymnal to Chris Faraone to Moe Pope’s crew have raved about directly to me in the past few weeks. The vibrant sounds of Underwater Bear Ballet, the Televibes, and Winter round out the afternoon.

At 5pm, there’s a break in the action — call it the Fuzz Halftime — then things pick back up in the Mid East’s subterranean big room an hour later for the main showcase, which features Ghost Box Orchestra, Hymnal, CreaturoS, the Fagettes, Doze, Nice Guys, Moniker and Guillermo Sexo.

This is a lot of rock and roll for just $10.
