Listen to the new Cults song, ‘I Can Hardly Make You Mine’

The dead of summer is proving to be quite lively. Up next in the new-music conveyor belt is Cults, who drop sophomore LP Static on October 15. But because the Brooklyn act are pretty fucking summery on the surface, we don’t have to wait for autumn to hear the first single, “I Can Hardly Make You Mine.”

NPR debuted the track earlier today, and now there’s a still-screen video up at Youtube. The song retains all the charm of Cults — ’60s girl-group harmonies, glistening pop vibes, and a sound that feels like it was recorded in a tin can under the sea. “I Can Hardly Make You Mine” is another saccharine score, and even a bit more rocking than the stuff on their 2011 self-titled debut.

It might be too late for Song of the Summer accolades, but this is a good way to wrap up the season before it’s too late to go outside.
