Misfits announce Halloween show in Boston; watch their 30-year-old set at the Channel

Ok, so there’s no Doyle, and there’s definitely no Glenn Danzig, but a Misfits show on Halloween night is still pretty cool (right?) and that’s what Boston gets when the legendary punk band (what’s left of it) play the Wilbur Theatre on October 31. Comprising the Misfits these days are Jerry Only, Dez Cadena, and Eric “Chupacabra” Arce, with Only playing the role of Glenn. Last we checked Mary Ramone was involved in some capacity, too.

But if you remember Halloween, then chances are you remember the Jersey band’s punk late-’70s/early-80s glory days (sorry Michale Graves), and the folks at the Wilbur today unearthed this hour-long clip of the Misfits in all their furious action at long-gone Boston rock club the Channel. The date was March 20, 1983 (everyone was still probably hungover from St Patrick’s Day) and Jerry’s Kids and the FUs were on the bill.

Joining the Misfits this Halloween will be those aforementioned FU’s, as well as Brunt Of It and the Attack. Pre-sale starts tomorrow.

Of course, since it’s Halloween, your Misfits options are plentiful — note that Hell Night, October 30 at Great Scott, has a supergroup dubbed Horror Business” featuring members of the Hidden, Blackhouse, Iron Mustache and the Dividers doing a Misfits cover set. The night also features faux MC5, Turbonegro, the Bronx, and Deep Purple. Kyle Neesom (Cocked N’ Loaded) and Jeff Sykes (Lunglust) put this one together, so you know it’ll be a fun shitshow. More on that as the date draws near.
