Boston Calling unveils festival site map, new stage locations highlight changes to City Hall layout

Boston Calling Music Festival is only a few days away, and now organizers have unveiled a new site map of the City Hall Plaza ground. The biggest change to the layout is the relocation of the second, smaller stage.

Last year, the City Hall Stage was tucked away near Congress Street and the stairs facing City Hall Plaza; large crowds for Marina & the Diamonds and Young The Giant grew sideways due to the lack of front of house depth. Now, that second stage, dubbed the Red Stage, is facing the slightly-shifted main Blue stage, creating a large middle section for concertgoers to walk back and forth. With no overlap between performances, this should be a pretty cool feature of non-stop music. You could theoretically stand right in the middle of City Hall Plaza and watch every performance.

In addition to the stage changes, the new entrance is along Congress Street, and the Media Tent has been moved into the VIP area. The Beer Gardens look unchanged.
