By now we know what to expect from New York noise-pop duo Sleigh Bells, and that’s some sort of variation of what it sounds like when chainsaws romantically fuck each other. But now that we’re three records deep from Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller, it’s fun to listen to new music and envision just where those blades penetrate.
On new track “Bitter Rivals,” the title cut off October 8’s new LP, Sleigh Bells are in familiar territory with a bit more aggression in the mechanical thrusts, but the juice really lies in the finger-snapping make-out sesh slowdown to ensure the song doesn’t blow it’s load too quickly. It’s got a nice bit of sass to it.
In releasing this joint earlier this week, Sleigh Bells also unveiled the record’s 10-song track list and full North American tour with Doldrums. That last bit hits Boston’s Royale on November 16. Fire up those ‘saws, baby.
