“The concept of freedom is one that’s universally positive and timeless, and whatever each person’s version of that freedom is, it’s a good thing to be reminding people or even just ourselves to be ‘free.’” That bit of wisdom comes from Australia’s biggest Boston Celtics fans, otherwise known as Cut Copy.
The dance-pop group today announced a North American and European tour to close out 2013, which will serve to support new record Free Your Mind, out November 5 via Loma Vista/Modular. Listen to the title track up above; it’s got a nice, jangly Madchester vibe that Cut Copy first hinted at on songs like “Take Me Over,” from 2011’s Zonoscope.
The 30-date Cut Copy tour hits Boston’s House of Blues on November 16 (tickets on sale Friday), and sadly, the Celtics will be away at Minnesota that night (both fan bases will be unified in crying over KG). The C’s then head to Houston and San Antonio before coming home on November 22 to play Indiana, the day before Cut Copy head to Chile to play Primavera Fauna. Hmmmmm. Maybe we can convince them to stick around Boston for a few days before flying south…
