Get together and watch the video for Grooms’ ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ // 10.09.13 @ Great Scott

Over the summer, Brooklyn’s Grooms caught our attention with their latest single “I Think We’re Alone Now.” Originally thinking (hoping?) it would be a Tiffany cover, the glowing post-punk magnetism of the track quickly overcame any lingering desire for a hokey ’80s cover. Instead, “I Think We’re Alone” now revealed itself to be something of a mix between the Replacements and early New Order. Yeah, band comparisons like that are lazy — at least we didn’t say they were “arm-wrestling in a back alley Park Slope bodega” or something — but it works.

The song is again in our domes today because Grooms are back in town tomorrow night, hitting up Great Scott in Allston with a hat-trick of stellar Boston bands: Young Adults, Chandeliers, and Vegans. The trio are making the rounds in support of their well-received new LP, Infinity Caller, which you can stream over on Noisey.
