“Christmas time is here again… Vanya needs a helping hand!”
Few songs evoke the holiday spirit quite like King Diamond’s 1986 metal classic “No Presents For Christmas,” which is why we’re asking YOU to cover the song for our very first Vanya Christmas Cover Challenge. The contest is open to all bands or artists, and it’s up to you to interpret it as you see fit. From metal to electro to experimental to folk — we want to hear you do the King justice.
[global_player artist=”King Diamond” title=”No Presents For Christmas” stream=”http://www.itsatrap.com/playlist/king_diamond-no_presents_for_christmas.mp3″ cover=”http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/images/covers/king-diamond-no-presents-for-christmas(ep).jpg” backlink=”false” id=”53499″ fb=”https://www.facebook.com/kingdiamondofficial” tw=”https://twitter.com/RealKingDiamond”]
Submit your cover to us by Wednesday, December 11 at noon EST, and we’ll post every submission we receive into the V:Player, creating a special “No Presents For Christmas” mega-channel, then ask readers to vote on their favorite.
The grand prize? $250 to the winning band, and Vanyaland will donate an additional $250 to a charity in need for the holidays. We’re in the spirit of giving — just the way King Diamond would want it.
Please submit your file as an .mp3, .wav, or .aif and email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org with CHRISTMAS WITH THE KING in the subject line. Don’t worry about quality of recording, we’re judging on talent and general awesomeness.
The contest will then run live on the site until Christmas Eve morning, December 24, when we announce the winner.
