Video Premiere: D-Tension and Ad Frank team up for a sexy synth-pop romp in ‘Can You Stand It”

Veteran hip-hop producer D-Tension promised a different look with his new record Secret Project, and though the album’s Pledge campaign still has 26 days left, the Lowell-based renaissance man has delivered. Sir Tension released the first cut today, a collaboration with Ad Frank that’s a seductive synth-pop kitten-purr that recalls the best of ’80s new wave and finds the producer holding down the keytar around some pizza-hungry vixens.

Yeah, that god damn MBTA bear is trying to steal his vibe.

The video was directed by Myster DL of Ill Mannered Films and Photography.

With just less than four weeks to go in the crowd-funding campaign, which will help it be mixed, mastered, duplicated and promoted, Secret Project is approaching 50 percent of its goal.

The record features D-Tension on production, with a handful of recognizable indie rock voices taking part in the collab, giving the project a different type of sound that D-Tension’s usual hip-hop records. Born out of a conversation with Aaron Perrino about a decade ago, it features the Sheila Divine and Dear Leader singer as well as Jason Dunn of the Luxury, Liz Enthusiasm of Freezepop (who makes a cameo in the video up top), Kerri-Ann Richard of Apple Betty, Kevin Stevenson of The Shods, Danny Carney of Roll The Tanks, Alex Stern of The Sterns and Big D & The Kids Table, Jen Kearney, and Frank Morey.
