Watch Kay Hanley and some ice skating Care Bears perform at the 2007 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade needs a little more Boston love — maybe some Dropkick Murphys and those bagpipes, or a drunken Mike Napoli pounding High Lifes, or Bad Rabbits making grandmas across America uneasy with their R&B sexytime. Yeah yeah, the Minuteman Marching Band is nice and all, but what about some love from our city’s music scene? Those guys don’t hang out at T.T.’s

Back in 2007, however, Kay Hanley filled the void. And she did it with caring.

Check out this “vintage” clip from a few years ago, when the Letters To Cleo singer shared a float with a group of ice-skating Care Bears. “Caring can change the world,” indeed.

True that. Aunt Ester, please pass the acid.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! <3
