We knew that as soon as we heard SKATERS‘ instant Song of 2014 contender “Miss Teen Massachusetts” that an avalanche of remixes would soon follow. The first to cross our desks is from our own backyard. Massachusetts/Rhode Island-born Magic Man — who are one of two “locals” on this spring’s Boston Calling Music Festival, along with Tigerman, WHOA — have stripped away the song’s beautiful guitar-noise grime and given it sparkling synthpop wings. The Magic Man remix is a pulsating dance track that’s uber-smooth, polishing out the guitar-rock edges and balancing it on an electronic comet-ride.
And well, it’s just really nice.
SKATERS’ debut album Manhattan is out February 24, and tickets to Boston Calling are on sale now.
