Vanyaland Premiere: Western Education tap into Scott Pilgrim in new video for ‘Rivals’

Our love for Western Education runs deep. From (over)-playing recent single “All I Am” on our former digital airwaves to dragging them up to Newburyport for the launch of this website last spring, the synth-rock sounds of this Lowell-based quartet are frequently running through our heads. Now, in new music video for latest single “Rivals,” Western Education are tapping into our love for a certain Scott Pilgrim.

“This very nerdy video is inspired by Scott Pilgrim vs The World, with a twist,” explains frontman Greg Alexandropoulos. “Each band member will be turned into a doll during the video, which were crafted in ‘Amigurumi‘-style stitching. They were hand made by Charis Dalessio.

Featuring the acting exploits by John Manning, the video was directed by Eight Armed Studios, and we are psyched to premiere it today on Vanyaland.

Western Education are taking a timeout from recording their debut album, for one night at least, play the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge on March 1 alongside Fairhaven, AJ Edwards & the List, and others.

That record is due out this summer. Here’s the single art for “Rivals”
