Breaking News: Hot new buzz band Coldplay to perform at SXSW, hope for big breakthrough

Add virtually-unknown British buzz band Coldplay to the list of must-see acts at next month’s SXSW! No word on whether the band fronted by some bloke named Chris Martin will perform inside a giant iPhone vending machine, but it’s certain we’ll see a lot of the arm-around-your-shoulder pop-rock dudes down in Austin next month.

According to the NME:

The British band will perform on the first night of iTunes Festival at SXSW, the first time the music provider has brought its own festival to the US event. Coldplay will play live in a bill which also includes Imagine Dragons and London Grammar on March 11 at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre.

Speaking about the band’s performance, Coldplay drummer Will Champion says: “We’re really looking forward to the first ever iTunes Festival in the US, and are thrilled to be asked to play on the opening night. It’s a great honour for our band and we hope everyone has a fantastic time.”

Promising “five amazing shows” across five nights at the festival, iTunes will also host Keith Urban, Pitbull and Zedd. Further additions to the line-up have yet to be announced. Each show will be available to stream in full online.
