We’ve successfully avoided Pomplamoose ever since their 2010 holiday ads for Hyundai, but the YouTube stars have apparently made a new name for themselves reworking familiar hits in mash-up fashion. In November the uber-cutesy real-life couple of Nataly Dawn and Jack Conte tossed Lorde, Tupac, and Beck into the blender-‘moose, and now they’ve set their twee stun-guns on Pharrell.
Their recent “Happy Get Lucky” mash-up incorporates Pharrell’s “Happy” with Daft Punk collaborations “Get Lucky” (ever hear of it?) and “Lose Yourself To Dance,” and it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect.
For the verse of our mash-up, we used the chords from “Get Lucky” with the vocals from “Happy.” For our prechorus, we used the vocals from both “Happy” and “Get Lucky.” The chorus of our mashup is the chords and vocals from “Happy” and the vocals from “Lose Yourself to Dance.”
We are anticipating a mountain of comments about boobs. That’s okay – we know boobs get people going. We didn’t intend to make a “boob” video. We just thought it would be cool to project on another 3D surface…. and Nataly’s boobs make GREAT eyeballs.
