Listen to all 24 bands playing the 35th Rock N’ Roll Rumble, coming to T.T. The Bear’s in April

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]nd then there were 24. As the Oscars were handed out in Los Angeles earlier tonight, musical nominations in the 2014 Rock N’ Roll Rumble were announced here in Boston, live on Anngelle Wood’s Boston Emissions show on WZLX 100.7 FM.

As usual, a quick scan of the field for our city’s music festival disguised as a “battle of the bands” suggests anyone can win it all. The acts are once again super varied: from the heavy sounds of Summoner to the synth-rock of Western Education; from the piano-pounding whiskey-rock of Feints to the Americana stomp of Tigerman WHOA (who are also playing Boston Calling this spring). It should be noted that there are three Midriff Records bands taking part — Gondoliers, Z*L, and Guillermo Sexo.

The Rumble will kick off the week of April 6 to 12 with six nights of preliminary round action at T.T. The Bear’s Place in Cambridge (four bands playing each night). The semi-finals are April 17 and 18 (each night features three preliminary night winners plus one wild card entry from either the first or last trio of prelims), with the final happening on Friday, April 25 — all at the Central Square rock club.

The nightly lineups will be announced on March 3. “Full Boat” passes — which will get you into all nine nights — are on sale now.

We’ll have more to come on the Class of 2014 in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out the logo, designed by Tyler Littwin/Blake Ink United, and a full 24-band rundown of sounds after the jump…
