Austin Rock City: Listen to the bands playing at the Berklee + Vanyaland SXSW party [03.13.14]

Our big-ass SXSW day party with Berklee College of Music is less than a week away — Thursday, March 13 from noon to 6 p.m. at Brush Square Park, for the record — so it’s high time we get properly acquainted with Boston & Beyond’s performing artists. Check out this new Berklee Bandcamp sampler below, which features our participating bands as well as a free downloads from pop luminaries Air Traffic Controller and rock quartet the Field Effect.

Is “Ogunquit, ME” any good? Well shit, it only won Song of the Year in the 2013 Boston Music Awards. That’s how we roll.

The compilation also features Elizabeth & the Catapult, Ashley Alexander, Friendly People, Cask Mouse, OldJack, Evolfo Doofeht, Los Rumberos, Charles Johnson, and the Rare Occasions.

The general public can RSVP to the event by emailing sxswrsvp@berklee.edu. It’s an all-ages show.

Oh and if you’re feeling that Friendly People track “New York” and are not headed to Austin next week, fear not: the band, who acquired a slot on our party via SonicBids, is playing at the Middle East in Cambridge this Sunday. Let’s send them off well.
