Sound the Alarm: Boston Calling is looking for one more band to play this spring’s festival

Last fall, Viva Viva and Royal Teeth were added to September’s Boston Calling Music Festival by applying through SonicBids, and this spring’s event is taking the same approach to round out its Sunday schedule.

The City Hall Plaza music fest is looking for one more band to play its May 23 to 25 jamboree in downtown Boston, and interested parties are asked to apply through SonicBids by April 29. A winner will be selected to open the Sunday slate, opening for Modest Mouse, Bastille, Brand New and others.

This contest has nothing to do with the “surprise secret guest” on Saturday’s schedule, so don’t even ask.

The SonicBids campaign appears to be open to bands from across the country, but it would be cool to get another Boston band on the bill, so tell all your friends.

There is a $10 entry fee. Here’s the fine print, with lineup poster below:

Boston Calling is reserving 1 slots for a Sonicbids artist to perform on Sunday May 25 alongside artists such as Modest Mouse, Brand New, Bastille, Tegan & Sara, Built to Spill and more!

The inaugural Boston Calling Festival in May 2013 attracted 40,000 attendees over two days and featured acts such as The National, fun., Of Monsters and Men, Dirty Projectors, The Shins, Ra Ra Riot, and Young the Giant.

Selected artists will be responsible for their own travel, lodging, and backline.
