Thrill ‘Em All: Listen to a brand new Metallica song, ‘The Lords of Summer’

Metallica unveiled a new song over the weekend in Colombia, the metal band’s first bit of new music since 2008’s Death Magnetic. The track, an eight-minute jam out called “The Lords Of Summer,” was captured by fan video at Parque Simon Bolivar in Bogota, and posted to YouTube.

It appeared sixth in the band’s fan-selected set list, between “The Unforgiven” and “…And Justice For All.” The track certainly aligns more with the latter, which is a good sign of things to come.

The song unveiling came on the first night of the band’s “Metallica by Request” tour, where according to Consequence of Sound, “each night fans will choose 17 tracks from a pool of over 140.” CoS has the set list and full run of dates, as well.
