Hello Pity: Avril Lavigne’s $400 fan photos are almost as awkward as her latest video

And you thought watching Avril Lavigne’s new video for “Hello Kitty” was awkward. Try taking in these recent fan photos that surfaced over the weekend, where Sk8er Bois and Grrls in Brazil paid $400 for the right to pose next to their favorite pop star.

But the rules were much like that middle school dance where you first cried to “Complicated”: no touching was allowed.

Eye contact, we think, was OK.

Last week a gallery of images surfaced via BeatheHeavy and imgur, and they’re as ridiculous as you’d imagine.

“Avril Lavigne fans were oriented by security not to touch or hug her, unless she touches or hugs you, in her M&G in Brazil,” wrote raeezus on BreatheHeavy. “And… the M&G ticket doesn’t even include the ticket for the show, and it’s worth R$800 (around $400).”

Props to Lavigne for that forced smile and even flashing the devil horns at one point, proving that that $400 was well spent and the alternative, dropping $19.99 on a cardboard cutout at Hot Topic, just wouldn’t be the same.
