Pop Fireworks: Berklee alum Betty Who to join Katy Perry’s Prismatic world tour

This morning we’re setting off fireworks for Berklee alum Betty Who, who will be joining Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour later this year. Perry announced the two openers for her Australian extension last night, enlisting Sydney-native Who for 14 dates from November 7 to 28, including four hometown dates at the Allphones Arena. Swedish electro-pop upstart Tove Lo will perform the other nine shows on Perry’s run down under.

Betty Who, born Jessica Anne Newham, graduated from Berklee in 2013, and released her second EP, Slow Dancing, last month on RCA Records.

It featured the breakout hit “Heartbreak Dream,” which you can hear — along with her 1.2-million-view YouTube video for “Somebody Loves You” — after the announcement jumps. Betty Who’s Hopeless Romantic tour runs throughout June.

Meanwhile, Perry’s tour comes to Boston’s TD Garden on August 1 and 2. Capital Cities, the Los Angeles synthpop duo behind the global hit “Safe And Sound, are opening.
