Your Plans Tonight: Spanish dream-pop duo Lost Tapes bring upbeat shoegaze to Cambridge

A few seconds into Lost Tapes captivating new song “Blame It On Rio,” it’s easy to start daydreaming of where the dream-pop duo calls home. The mind races across an imaginary atlas from Los Angeles to Oxford, England, darting up to Dublin, Ireland and then back across the Atlantic to whichever current stateside city is churning out modern interpretations of shoegaze, college rock, and c86-inspired jangle-pop.

But Lost Tapes, a two-year-old project of La Habitación Roja’s Pau Roca and RJ Sinclair of Tokyo Sex Destruction, call home the summer-village coast of Catalunya, Spain.

They’re interrupting a string of New York gigs (including NYC Popfest in Brooklyn earlier this week) to come to town tonight, playing T.T. The Bear’s Place in Cambridge on a manageable humpday bill with Couples Counseling, Bummed, Pari∀h, all presented by the fine folks at Park Slug.

Check out the endearing guitar-pop cruiser “Blame It On Rio,” made into a recent video for the b-side recent single “Rubber Bracelet,” as well as February EP, Poetry Dates, below.

Recommended track: “Skyline,” which is giving us a really nice Lightning Seeds vibe.
