Still Ill: Morrissey nixes Friday night Atlantic City show, promises Boston gig will go on

This is getting a little too close for comfort.

After cancelling last night’s gig in Atlanta, Morrissey has now nixed a second show on his current tour, set for tomorrow night in Atlantic City. The next scheduled performance on his tour itinerary is right here in Boston: Saturday night at the Opera House.

But fear not, the show will happen, we’re told. Stop us if you think you’ve heard that one before.

The singer’s “people” posted the following message to Facebook this afternoon:

As Morrissey and the touring party recover from a virus, the engagement in Atlantic City at the Revel Ovation Hall has been postponed to Sunday, June 22. All previously purchased tickets will be honored on the new date. The tour will resume as originally scheduled, without question, at the Boston Opera House on Saturday, June 7.

“Without question.”

We’ll see.

The good news is that this Atlantic City show tomorrow night has merely been “postponed,” not cancelled outright like the Atlanta gig (he’s now missed four shows within two years in the Georgia capital). Hopefully we get a very refreshed Mozzer at the Opera House.

Morrissey’s new record, World Peace Is None Of Your Business, is out July 15.
