Watch the guy from Shambles get rejected between songs during his own band’s show

Online dating is hard. You just never know what you’re going to get behind that profile photo and a few general common interests. And there’s no predicting what’s going to happen when a two people meet up for the first time.

Jeremy “Huts” Hertz of Boston pop-punk quartet Shambles found out the hard way a few years ago, when a girl he met on OKCupid came to his show, watched about half of it by herself, then rejected him in front of everyone between songs.

He relays the story: “Shambles was playing a show to a pretty good-sized crowd at WWTA in Allston,” he writes. “Before we played, I sent out a mass text to some friends about the show and accidentally included some girl I’d talked to on OKCupid, but never met in person… she decided to show up. About halfway through our set, she came right up to me and, basically into the microphone, totally shot me down and left. It was amazing.”

The girl wasn’t rude. She offered up a quick “Bye, you’re great,” and got right the fuck out of the DIY venue.

And naturally, video of the interaction surfaced yesterday. Hertz’ friends added some effects for some extra dramatization.

The two haven’t spoken since.

“I tried finding her number in my phone today but I think I must have deleted it,” he tells Vanyaland. “That was our last moment together. Never forget.
