Allston Raw City: Listen to the 10 bands playing this summer’s Fuckfest 2014

If you’re going to name your all-day party Fuckfest, you have to deliver on the awesome. But it just so happens that this summer’s Fuckfest 2014 — has a nice ring to it, eh? — returns to the scene of Awesome Day Fest, taking over O’Brien’s Pub in Allston for a 10-band, all-day, BBQ-fueled event on August 23.

The punk rock pileup is a collaborative effort between O’Brien’s booking agent Ryan Agate and Park Slug promoter Janelle LaMarche. It joins all-day parties like Starlabfest and Fuzzstival in one increasingly loud summer.

“Ryan and I have been talking about it for about a month now, and slowly getting friends on board,” LaMarche tells Vanyaland. “We basically just wanted to have a big party before all the students infiltrated Allston. We were trying to aim for a more “rock and roll” bill than anything too noise/psych oriented, given the Fuzzstival a few weeks prior. We’ll have some punk bands during the day into a heavier evening.”

Among the participating bands are Boston’s Z*L, Onslo, and Harris Hawk, as well as a pair of Rhode Island’s finest in Ask the Dead and Bloodpheasant, and The Gradients out of New York.

You’ll need sunblock for your ears at this Fuckfest, so check out the bands below. They’re listed here in alphabetical order; the set order and times will be announced in July.
