There Is A Fight That Never Goes Out: Boz Boorer defends Morrissey against ‘slander’

Just when we thought the recent saga of Days of Our Moz had quieted down for good, Morrissey guitarist Boz Boorer returns from the distant land of Portugal to chime in on all this tour cancellation drama. In a statement to Morrissey fan site True To You, the guitarist claims the attacks by opening acts Kristeen Young and producer Tony Visconti are “slander.”

For those who lost track: Morrissey had to cancel the remaining nine dates of his World Peace Is None Of Your Business tour and blamed Young for getting him sick. Young called the allegations “lies,” saying she just had an allergy attack and not an illness, and Visconti jumped in to defend her (his comments have been deleted, we think). Then Moz guitarist Jesse Tobias lashed out at Young and Visconti in a randomly-capitalized written diatribe, deeming the duo “false friends.”

Whew.

Ok, here’s Boorer’s take below. Watch the guitarist’s new video with Eddie Argos, for new single “Girl From Atlanta,” out June 20 on Fabrique Records, after the jump.

And FYI, that new Moz record is out July 15 — but you already knew that because we won’t stop fucking posting about this nonsense.

I have just returned from 5 days in the mountains of Portugal where I am cut off from the internet. It appears I have missed an awful lot.

Search as I have I can only find snippets of Tony Visconti’s postings and I am very shocked and disappointed at what I have read and can only wonder why he immediately withdrew the postings with no explanation.

Kristeen has been a constant companion on the road for so long and I am also bewildered by her actions also immediately withdrawn from view.

I hate to throw wood on an already blazing fire but I am afraid I cannot sit back and watch this slander.

Bam! What’s next in As The Moz Turns? Who knows! Stay tuned…
