Vanyaland Premiere: Listen to the Field Effect’s yearning new single, ‘Jenny (It’s Getting Late)’

Johnny Anguish

It’s been nearly two years since the Field Effect first took us on a trip up north to some magical Maine seaside town. It was a fitting introduction to a band that we’ve grown quite fond of, both personally and professionally, and now we’re honored to premiere the latest single from the Boston guitar-rock quartet, “Jenny (It’s Getting Late).”

If “Ogunquit ME” was the anticipation-filled morning drive out of town, “Jenny” is the soundtrack to late-night beach bonfire decisions. “It’s getting late and I don’t want to be alone,” offers guitarist/vocalist Doug Orey in the chorus, “She’s looking at me and I want to take her home.”

The new track is the a-side off the Field Effect’s limited-edition cassette release, which will be available when the band plays this Friday’s WERS 88.9 65th Anniversary Show at the Sinclair in Cambridge alongside Air Traffic Controller, Parks, Bent Shapes. Advance tickets are available here.

Pop the cassette in and take “Jenny” for a digital spin below.
