Friends are rallying around two prominent Boston underground nightlife figures whose apartment and personal belongings were destroyed in this morning’s nine-alarm fire in Cambridgeport.

Via a GoFundMe campaign established a few hours ago, nearly $3,500 has been raised in just over an hour for Chris Scovil (Jedi Chrome) and Steph Heiser (Sparkgrrl), who were affected in the three-building fire this morning on Allston Street in Cambridge. WCVB Channel 5 reports that dozens of people were driven from their apartments after the blaze broke out around 3:30 a.m. WCVB also reports that some firefighters “suffered minor injuries due to falling objects,” but there were no serious injuries among the street’s tenants.

In addition to their home, many of the personal items belonging to Scovil and Heiser have been destroyed, and the GoFundMe campaign is aimed to help them get through their current ordeal. Scovil, a longtime proponent of Boston’s underground arts scene, is a promoter of the monthly Superstition dance party at Arc Nightclub and Lounge in Boston.

Chris Scovil (jedichrome) and Steph Heiser (sparkgrrl) lost freakin’ everything to a 9-alarm fire last night. (video here) Thankfully, they were out of the house when it happened. But, they have no renter’s insurance and nothing left. They need help even just getting through the next few days, and that’s what we’re here for. I know they have a ton of awesome friends who will be glad to give to help them get back on their feet as soon as they can.
