Newport Folk Festival issues weather advisory announcement for Sunday slate

Deer Tick yesterday at Newport Folk

After experiencing only light rains late yesterday afternoon that served more to cool down Fort Adams State Park than inconvenience it, Newport Folk Festival has issued a weather advisory for today’s third and final slate of shows. It reads:

ANNOUNCEMENT: The only thing that’s more important than the music is your safety. We’ve been advised that’s there’s a POSSIBILITY that sever thunderstorms may effect the festival. If this were to occur, we are advising that, for your safety, you seek shelter in masonry buildings, your own automobile or in other safe places. Please do not congregate under tents or near metal structures. If we interrupt the festival, we hope it’s only temporary. Stay tuned to the app or to our social media outlets. Stay in place and we will alert you by all means possible as we have any more information.

Among today’s performers include Mavis Staples, Jeff Tweedy, Conor Oberst, Hozier, Caitlin Rose, Dawes, Lucero, and others.
