Cosmic Thing: Watch Röyksopp & Robyn float on in music video for ‘Monument’

We are now 10 days away from Röyksopp & Robyn landing in Boston and parking their synth-pop spacecraft under the tent of the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion.

To give us a sense of what kind of audio-visual stimulation that’s in store, the Swedish pop collaborators today unveiled a new, nearly-seven-minute-long music video for “Monument,” the latest off this year’s mini-album Do It Again. The video finds the crew in a cosmic state of mind and floating through space as the gentle hum of the song strums along. It was directed by Max Vitali, who was the creative mind behind Robyn’s 2010 mechanically sci-fi video for “Dancing On My Own.”

According to the presser, Vitali “created a weightless and timeless space by shooting on a wire-based camera, drawing the viewer in on a journey of self discovery, a central theme throughout the song.”

Kinda what happens during every Robyn song, but it’s always good to have corresponding visuals.

“[It’s] kind of inner journey which I think is also what the music is about,” says Robyn. “Like space in time and physicality and your own experience of your body.”

Release awaits August 20 by the water.
