Hair Metal Booking Nightmare: Tesla and Cinderella playing competing New Hampshire shows tonight

Sometimes they tour together, sometimes they compete against each other. But most of the time, hair metal bands of yesteryear just can’t catch a break. We were shocked and dismayed this morning as we scanned through the Do617 concert listings to find that both Cinderella and Tesla are playing shows in Southern New Hampshire tonight. Unfortunately, those shows are about 50 miles away from each other.

What could have been a beautifully stacked bill — and an opportunity to hear both “Love Song” and “Don’t Know What You’ve Got (Til It’s Gone)” in one magical summer night with your soul mate lover — is ruined.

Cinderella will be up in Concord playing the Capitol Center for the Arts, while Tesla is bringing it closer to Boston with a show at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. We’re surprised Bang Tango couldn’t lock in a date at Strange Brew in Manchester.

This is a bigger decision than the New Hampshire primary, so choose wisely. We suspect that “love will a find a way,” but if it doesn’t, we’re here to help. Here’s a look at what to expect from both bands in 2014 — we might give the edge to Tom Keifer’s re-inspired Cinderella crew, but you haven’t lived until you hear Tesla’s “Love Song” live in concert (and we’re not being sarcastic; ultimate guilty pleasure jam).
