Yale, Massachusetts release new song, honor Robin Williams by donating proceeds to suicide prevention

While many are still reeling from the sudden death of actor Robin Williams, one Boston band has decided to raise funds for suicide prevention through their new music.

In advance of its September cassette release, Yale, Massachusetts have posted their new track “(Anything But) Ratty Allen” to Bandcamp, with all sale proceeds between now and August 22 to go to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

“(Anything But) Ratty Allen” is one-half of the band’s upcoming release Pizzeria Regina George, and it’s dedicated to not only Williams, but “everyone we’ve lost to suicide,” according to the band.

“This is a very important song for me because it deals directly with my own struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts,” says Yale, Massachusetts’ Roger Lussier. “I’m not sure how much money this will raise (if any) but any amount will be able to help this charity do their work.”

Purchase and/or stream the track below, and follow along with the lyrics after the Bandcamp embed. The other track off Pizzeria Regina George, “When It Goes Down,” is streaming via Soundcloud at the bottom of this post.

“(Anything But) Ratty Allen” Lyrics:
I’m alright, I’m okay
But sometimes I feel I’m slipping away
This darkness, fear one bad thing
Is gonna happen that’ll push me over the edge

Or whatever that might mean…

Oh oh oh oh oh oh
And everyone is singing
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
La la la la la la la

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa
And everyone is happy
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa
We all are better off now

And I’m not looking for sympathy this time
So bear with me
Bear with me

And I don’t know when this feeling’s going to leave
So stay with me
Stay
