High On Life: Swedish sensation Tove Lo announces US tour, drops new video for ‘Not On Drugs’

When we last heard from Tove Lo, Sweden’s latest electro-pop import, she was fulfilling the time-honored practice of getting stoned as fuck to forget a past love. “You’re gone and I gotta stay/High all the time/To keep you off my mind/Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh,” she sang in “Habits (Stay High),” one of our top tracks of 2014. We’ve bumped that on regular Vanya Radio rotation since we launched on Valentine’s Day, and now we’re psyched as all hell to find Tove Lo coming to the North America for her first proper run of shows this fall.

The last stop on her 10-date cross-country trek is an October 5 date at Brighton Music Hall in Allston, and it’s part of the VH1 You Oughta Know series, so get tickets while you can; they go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, Tove announced her new LP, Queen of the Clouds, out September 30 via Island Records. It’s broken up into three parts, The Sex, The Love, and The Pain, and features some selections off her recent Truth Serum EP as well as a wealth of new material.

It also includes her newest single, “Not On Drugs,” and today Tove Lo dropped a new video for the tune, which premiered on Rolling Stone.

From “Habits (Stay High)” to “Not On Drugs” over the course of two singles — sounds like someone cleaned up her act. Kinda.

“I choked on the paint, the smoke made me half blind and here is my three-minute trip that shows the intensity and weirdness I feel when falling in love,” Tove told Rolling Stone, via e-mail. “The main theme we had in mind while making this video was ‘What just happened?’ It was quite amazing making something with the happy piece of my heart this time!”

Check it out after the tour-date jump.
