Back in Bats: Hear the new AC/DC song ‘Play Ball,’ debuting this weekend in MLB Ad

The news broke yesterday that AC/DC have set a December 2 release date for their new album, Rock or Bust. Now a snippet of the first single, “Play Ball,” can be heard in the one minute ad below for the Major League Baseball postseason airing on TBS.

It’s tough to get a proper read on the track with the commentary overlay, but there’s a discernible laid back bluesy guitar feel that echoes the band’s last two releases, Black Ice and Stiff Upper Lip. Frontman Brian Johnson’s constipated sounding vocals are ready for primetime too. Have a listen:

Rock or Bust will be the fifteenth studio record in the AC/DC catalog. It’s also the first in their 41 year history without founding guitarist Malcolm Young, who has departed the band due to health reasons. On the new album and ensuing world tour, he will be replaced by his nephew Stevie, who also performed as his stand in during some dates of the tour for the 1988 release Blow Up Your Video.
