It’s a shame nominations have already been filed for the 2014 Boston Music Awards, because just as the Songs of the Year are set to be announced Saturday at Sound Of Our Town, along comes Ruby Rose Fox with one of the most enticing and seductive songs to emerge from our city in quite a while.

“Die Pretty” is the first in a line of singles Ruby Rose Fox will be releasing through the remainder of 2014 and into the New Year, and she’s celebrating with a three-month residency at Atwood’s Tavern in Cambridge. The track was recorded at Q Division and produced by Will Dailey.

According to the presser, “Die Pretty” is “a song about the myriad of characters that live inside us, taking a hard look at ourselves, and facing (if not always overcoming) our demons. It attempts to reveal that which lurks in the shadows of the unexamined life…”

Ruby’s Atwood’s residency kicks off on October 16, two days after the official release of “Die Pretty,” with special guest OldJack. Future shows include Tigerman WOAH (November 6) and Eddie Japan (December 18).

Ruby will also be appearing as a special guest during the Daily Pravda’s set as Lana Del Rey at the Vanyaland Halloween party, October 31 at Great Scott. She’ll be providing backing vocals, and will step up to lead a song or two.
