Speedy Ortiz have been known to call Boston their home away from home. And now the Western Massachusetts rock and roll band is proving it, with a just-announced month-long residency at Great Scott in December.
The “holiday residency” will go down at the Allston rock club on three consecutive Fridays, December 5, 12, and 19, and feature “many special guests and friends,” according to the Great Scott bulletin. Speedy plays a sold-out show at Great Scott on Thursday with Ex-Hex and Pile.
The holiday shows surround the 2014 Boston Music Awards, where Speedy Ortiz are nominated in two categories: Artist of the Year and Rock Artist of the Year. The awards take place December 14 at the Revere Hotel in downtown Boston. Speedy Ortiz performed earlier this month at the BMAs kickoff party, the Vanyaland-curated Sound Of Our Town festival at the Lawn On D.
