Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds get back to basics in the video for ‘In The Heat Of The Moment’

Ten days ago Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds unexpectedly dropped a new single, and, it oddly enough, inspired a debate between myself and Vanyaland contributor Hilary Hughes. She said she heard traces of “Blue Monday” in the song, and while we disagreed (which was weird because we tend to hear the ’80s classic in everything), it did spawn a day-long debate on the internet whether or not the New Order track was the most influential song of the past 40 years.

It was an unfortunate distraction, because we should have kept paying mind to our old mate Noel. “In The Heat Of The Moment” is another guitar-rocking banger from the former Oasis guitarist and songwriter, further proof he was the real brains of the Britpop heavyweights (though that was likely never in doubt).

To bring our attention back to the track, today Noisey premiered the “In The Heat Of The Moment” music video, a pretty no-frills cut that allows Noelly G to do his damn thing. It gets the job done.

The track is the first single off upcoming sophomore album Chasing Yesterday, due in March via Sour Mash Records. Pre-orders are up now, and yes, it will cost money.

But it’ll be worth it.
