Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? Culture Club cancel US tour over Boy George health concerns

Last week we noted how bizarrely different Boy George sounded on Culture Club’s comeback single “More Than Silence,” the first taste off new record Tribes. Today we’re met with more disappointing news, as the reunited new wave band has cancelled all of its upcoming United States and European tour dates. Boy George and crew were supposed to perform 10 shows here stateside, including two gigs at the Beacon Theatre in New York.

The tour was to kick off Saturday in Rancho Mirage, California, but Boy George has fallen ill after doctors discovered a polyp in the singer’s throat.

Here’s the word we just received…

It is with great regret that the members of Culture Club have announced the cancellation of their tours in North America and the UK scheduled for November and December 2014.

It became necessary to do so this week when a polyp was discovered in George’s throat. The throat specialist has ordered George to not sing as it may necessitate an operation.

George and the band are devastated by this news and so it is with much regret that the tour is cancelled until further notice. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

“We are hoping we can reschedule the concerts for next year, and hopefully George’s problem will be resolved,” said the members of Culture Club.

The band wish George a speedy recovery and added ….“To our fans we wish to thank you for your loyalty and know that we love you all.”
