Second Life: Ruby Rose Fox delivers ‘Unusual Grace’ in new single

Credit: Roger Metcalf

Ruby Rose Fox’s autumn single “Die Pretty” was one of our favorite tracks of 2014, so naturally our ears perked up when the b-side was unveiled this past weekend. The dramatic, soulful ballad titled “Unusual Grace” is strong enough to be a single on its own, so that’s how we’re approaching it. Oddly, it makes for good Christmas decorating music, but we can’t back that up with any scientific studies except our own experience.

Listen to “Unusual Grace” via YouTube below, and take note: It was recorded at Q Division Studios and produced by Will Dailey. Physical copies of the “Die Pretty”/”Unusual Grace” release will be available when Ruby performs live tomorrow night at Jed Gottleb’s Have You Ever Done Something Awesome? party at Atwood’s Tavern in Cambridge on a stellar bill alongside Hallelujah The Hills, When Particles Collide, and Nate Leavitt.

For those who can’t wait for the show, the track is available now on iTunes and Spotify.

Meanwhile Ruby Rose Fox is nominated for a pair of Boston Music Awards — Female Vocalist of the Year and Singer/Songwriter of the Year — and once the BMAs madness dies down, she returns to Atwood’s on December 18 to complete her three-month residency.
