In the Aeroplane Over The C Ya L8R: Neutral Milk Hotel announce ‘last tour for the foreseeable future’

Neutral Milk Hotel are going away, again.

Today the acclaimed indie-folk project announced a 2015 tour that will apparently be their last for some time. The tour has three New England dates — April 17 at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, April 18 at Portland’s State Theatre, and April 19 at Lupo’s in Providence — but no Boston show. Jeff Mangum and crew played at Boston Calling Music Festival earlier this year, opening the fall edition’s Friday night slate with Future Island and the National.

The full run of dates is below, but not before a message Neutral Milk Hotel penned for their fans earlier today announcing their kinda-sorta farewell.

It reads:

dear friends we love you but it’s time to say goodbye for the never ending now to announce that spring 2015 will be our last tour for the foreseeable future and so we extend our deepest gratitude to all the beautiful people who came to see us over the last year…..

we’d also like to give thanks to ms. aurora borealis, father foam horse, and mr. valentich for there collaborative contributions to the “womb rume” message that made its way onto this ear area only a few months ago, but from now on, all ciphers shall be sealed exclusively by the meister milk. thank you.

Word to that. Go pour out some milk at the dates that follow…
