Avoiding The Cover: Someone crashed through the Common Ground’s front window this morning

The morning after a Millennium Night dance party, anything can happen.

Allston bar, restaurant, and dance night venue the Common Ground found that out the hard way this morning as a silver car crashed right through its front window, opening up a gaping hole staring right out onto Harvard Avenue. Hopefully the culprit wasn’t someone who couldn’t get DJ Phat Mike to play his or her banging’ requests from 2002’s garage rock revival.

The Common Ground Facebook page reported no injuries (it doesn’t look like they were open at the time), and the owners boarded up the damage quick enough to open for business in time for today’s Patriots game. The brunch buffet, however, was cancelled, so this isn’t an entirely victim-less situation.

GOOOOOOOOD MORNING ALLSTON!!!!!

GUESS WHAT???? someone drove into our bar this morning!!!!!
(thankfully, no one was injured!)
everything is cleaned up now and ready to go so……

Also, props to the CG Facebook for having a sense of humor about it, posting videos from Dave Matthews Band “Crash Into Me”) and the Crash Test Dummies this afternoon. They might have to bust those out during Friday’s weekly My So-Called ’90s party.

Here’s a look at the damage. No word on if the driver was cited, or what caused the accident.
