New Weapon: Watch the Wombats return with the euphoric new single + video ‘Greek Tragedy’

We’re not sure when it happened, exactly, but one day we woke up and realized the Wombats have had quite a career. Perhaps we were busy dancing to Joy Division, moving to New York, or cruising Tokyo for vampiric wolves, but suddenly the British rock band has positioned itself as one of the more dependable of the groups of the past decade.

Now the Liverpool crew are back with a euphoric single, “Greek Tragedy,” where well-haired frontman Matthew Murphy offers up the tidy line “She hits like ecstasy.” The single was just premiered on BBC a few minus ago, and you can be among the first 200 people to watch the video, directed by Finn Keenan of Untitled Films, below.

“Greek Tragedy” is the first single off the Wombats’ upcoming album Glitterbug, which you can pre-order here. Meanwhile, get ready to hear the tune on the reg over at VanyaRadio — starting with its stateside radio debut at 3 p.m. EST.
