Vanyaland Premiere: Watch Sunset Hearts’ yearning new video for ‘I’ll Play It Wrong’

Last time we checked in with Portland, Maine-based electronic pop wizards Sunset Hearts, we were fawning over their soaring single “Past Lives” in our very own past life as an alt-weekly. Much has changed in those few short years, but Casey McCurry’s seven-piece ensemble is still putting the Pine Tree State on the map when it comes to textured, emotive synth-pop.

In October they dropped new LP wwwindswept, and today arrives the music video for the album’s brilliant lead track, “I’ll Play It Wrong.” The video, however, is a bit bittersweet, as it represents an end of an era for Sunset Hearts.

“We filmed it during the demolition of our studio space here in Portland, which is part of a big development project that is displacing many, many Portland bands,” McCurry tells us.

The video places the band within the building during its final stages, and washes it in digital color and brightness. Watch the video for “I’ll Play It Wrong” below, and be sure to DL wwwindswept via the Sunset Hearts Bandcamp page down below.
