Though the mid-2000s were mostly a cesspool for indie and rock music both here and in England, some bands managed to carve out a nice little career over the past decade. Though we’ve often marveled at the remarkable endurance and consistent quality of Kasabian in these digital pages, we can’t overlook the work of pop-ish rock band Kaiser Chiefs, who today dropped a pretty good new single in “Fallen Awake.” The Leeds gentlemen augmented the new music news with word of a North American tour for the spring, and that party train rolls up to Boston’s House of Blues on May 15.

“Fallen Awake” is a stand-alone single separate from last year’s under appreciated LP Education, Education, Education & War, and sounds as strong as their early work, when they broke onto the scene with 2005’s Employment (note “Every Day I Love You Less And Less,” “I Predict A Riot,” etc.).

That record turns 10 on March 7, and unlike, say Bloc Party and their also-stellar 10-year-old debut Silent Alarm (February 2), we aren’t wondering what the band is up to these days.

Listen to “Fallen Awake” below, and peep the full run of tour dates after the clip.
