Massachusetts metal band Within The Ruins escape injury in highway van accident

Massachusetts metal band Within The Ruins were involved in a serious tour van accident yesterday in Pennsylvania. According to reports, the Westfield band were headed to California to start a tour with Suicide Silence when their van and trailer flipped over in snowy road conditions.

No one in Within The Ruins was seriously hurt, but their van, trailer and gear have been destroyed.

“We rolled about three times from what I can remember and landed on the median,” says guitarist Joe Cocchi, via a Facebook post. “Our van and trailer are totaled.”

Within The Ruins have targeted a February 20 date at Seattle’s El Corazon to begin their tour, missing two California dates this week in Santa Cruz and Sacramento.

Adds Cocchi: “All I can say is that we’re happy to be alive. I don’t know how, but none of us were injured. We’re on the road touring because this is all we know and love, and we want to continue. Help us get back on our feet by picking up a shirt. Thank you all for the continued support.”

The band has set up a GoFundMe crowd-funding campaign to help offset some of their costs, which includes “a new van/trailer, rental van, gear repair and whatever else needed to carry on,” and it has already raised more than $2,000 in just three hours.

“We rolled about 3 times from what I can remember and landed in the median,” recalls Cocchi. “I know shit happens but man this is a tough one to grasp. We return home from a 27 day euro tour, spend one day with our families, and then this happens during a snow storm in PA as we are making the trek out to Cali. All I can say is that we’re happy to be alive. I don’t know how, but none of us were injured.”
