Synced Up: Listen to CHVRCHES’ synth-pop cover of Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cry Me A River’

The BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge series has been straight crushing it lately. Whether it’s Royal Blood covering the Police, Charli XCX taking on Taylor Swift, or even Catfish & the Bottlemen concocting a Kanye-Kasabian-Black Keys cocktail, every day there’s something wholly listenable emanating from Fearne Cotton’s studio.

Today, it’s Scottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES doing the re-booting with a fairly menacing cover of Justin Timberlake’s 2002 hit “Cry Me A River.” It’s single-worthy.

Covering songs and giving them new life is nothing new for the CHVRCHES crew, who in the past have flexed on Seal’s “Crazy” and Fleetwood Mac’s Go Your Own Way,” so it’s no surprise they were invited to the Lounge to create some more magic while we await the follow-up to 2013’s debut LP The Bones of What You Believe.
