Gaze into the haze of Kid Wave’s beautiful new chill-jam of a single, ‘Wonderlust’

We don’t think Kid Wave is headed to SXSW next month, which is a shame, because their chilled-out guitar-rock would be right at home alongside the likes of Yuck and Surfer Blood, making those vaunted 3:15 p.m. showcase time slots at that outdoor tent down the street at the party with free Lone Star all the more memorable.

Instead, we have the title track to their new record Wonderlust to keep us warm like Austin in March, and it’s a hazy, gazey three-minute jam that pulls gently from British shoegaze, California sun-pop, and fuzzy Western Massachusetts alt-rock. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a two-boy/two-girl London quartet that draws its members from Sweden, Australia and English capital.

Wonderlust, the LP, is due June 2 via Heavenly Recordings, and available for pre-order now. If “Wonderlust” the song is any indication, we’ll have this track on repeat all summer.
