Kiss Off, Kiss On: Listen to the first new Violent Femmes song in 15 years

Holy smokes — here’s a new Violent Femmes song.

And to make it even better, it’s the legendary alt-pop band’s first bit of new music with drummer Brian Viglione, the one-time Dresden Dolls drummer who joined the Femmes in July 2013.

This new Violent Femmes song is called “Love Love Love Love Love” — that’s five if you’re scoring at home — and will be included on a new EP, with more songs to be recorded this year. “Love Love Love Love Love” was recorded in Tasmania this past December after the band wrapped up a few global tours.

“Happy to have some new recordings for people that have loved our music,” singer/guitarist Gordon Gano tells Rolling Stone, which premiered the track today, “and would be honored to have a few new ears hear us for the first time too.”

The Femmes will play Boston’s Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on June 29 with the Barenaked Ladies, and we can pretty much guarantee they’ll play this new track and classic cut “Blister In The Sun.”

So listen to “Love Love Love Love Love” below and start memorizing the lyrics.
