No Wait: Prince announces spontaneous Louisville concert, more news on the way?

Back when Prince played Mohegan Sun in December 2013, Vanyaland waited several hours for the performer to show up to his own after party. A little over a year later, waiting around seems like a thing of the past.

The Purple One today announced a show in Louisville, Kentucky, for March 14 — next weekend. Though the venue hasn’t been announced, tickets will go on sale Monday via Live Nation, according to USA Today.

Here’s the word so far:

Prince and his group 3rdEyeGirl will start a series of Hit & Run Tour concerts next week. The first show, March 14 in Louisville, Ky., will be a hometown concert for 3rdEyeGirl drummer Hannah Welton.

Prince performed a series of Hit & Run shows last year in the U.K., announcing them via Twitter. Next week’s Louisville concert will be the first Hit & Run show in the U.S.

As Consequence of Sound also notes, Prince played a series of “spontaneous shows across the UK and Europe in promotion of his new solo album Art Official Age and his debut with 3rdEyeGirl, Plectrumelectrum.”

The music news site is suggesting this is “a similar jaunt for the United States,” and more show announcements may come at any time — and the turnaround time between announcement and event date could be rather short.

So in other words, stay tuned…
